It is one woman's dilemma or the dilemma of all mankind. The Wall is a modern parable about what happens when we surround ourselves with protective walls of our own making - we shut ourselves in and deprive ourselves of light and love and fellowship. We can build walls so high we can't get out - at least not without help. It is very faith-based so those without face may have a difficult time at the very end of the book. I have what I don't know how many copies. The Voice: A Story of Faith and Trust.

W. Metlen's timeless adult fable, The Voice, tells a simple, brilliantly presented story replete with quirky humor and spiritual insight. A man in a rowboat is fishing when a Voice says, "Follow Me". The man disregards the Voice

W. The man disregards the Voice. When the boat springs a leak, the man blames the voice. When he discovers that his boat is stuck and he cannot reach his oars to propel the boat, he fears that if he gets out of the boat to follow the Voice he will surely drown. The Voice again says, "Follow me" and "I love you"

I wrote a book about it called Through The Storm: A Story of Hope, Faith and Love. 22 For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee. 23 O love the Lord, all ye his saints: for the Lord preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

The story is simple: A man in a rowboat is fishing when a Voice says, "Follow m. The man responds like most of us, by thumbing his nose at the Voice. The boat springs first one then two leaks, which the man blames on the Voice. Then the man discovers that he's stuck. He can't reach his oars to move but he can't step out of the boat to follow. He's sure he will drown either way. The Voice again says, "Follow me" and "I love yo. Finally the man takes a risk, steps out of the boat, and discovers he can walk on water. I just discovered this book again after first encountering "The Voice" in a Borders Bookstore more than a year ago. Even though I couldn't recall the title or author (and was kicking myself for it), the message of the book had such an impact on me that I was obsessed with finding it again.
It looks like a typical children's book with silly line drawings and large font text. But start at the first page and "The Voice" immediately draws you in, even if it's been decades since you've picked up a picture book. A true gem disguised as kiddie fare, any Shel Silverstein or Calvin & Hobbes fan will appreciate the witty illustrations and warm, wise humor in this simple yet profound book.

A message for all ages to trust the voice inside or outside, God or your own inner self, simply given, simply illustrated. The reader can identify with the expressions of the fisherman, the fear of something new and the surprise when the thing feared was all in his mind.

"The Voice” by R.W. Metlen, is a book that wonderfully illustrates our attitude when God tries to step in and help us during our Christian walk. Too often, we are like the character in the book when we tell God, “no, I don’t need your help,” or “I can do this on my own Lord, leave me alone.” God may become silent as he patiently waits for us to acknowledge Him but He never walks away. The story is mixed with humor and amazing illustrations, making this book relatable to children and adults. If we are truly honest with ourselves, we will be able to relate to the character as representing our own journey. I highly recommend this book!
Wat!?
This book is full of great, funny commentary and cartoon illustrations of how God is always there for us. A great little book that really speaks to kids (though older people could get a good lesson out of it too) and it's the first thing I read to my class at the beginning of each school year. My own kids (5 and 4) read it over and over again, laughing at the pictures as they go.

Everyone likes this book from my 2 yr old daughter to her 29 yr old father. If you pay attention this book can really speak to you.
Bought it for my grandkids. They enjoyed it and it led to a great discussion of faith.
