Bill Hybels has denied the allegations and says his former friends are colluding against him. This has been a calculated and continual attack on our elders and on me for four long years. It’s time that gets identified, he told the Tribune. At the time, Jim Mellado, who helped launch Willow Creek’s Global Leadership Summit, had just taken the job as president of Compassion, and he and his wife were about to move to Colorado. At a goodbye party, a friend and former Willow Creek staffer told Leanne Mellado that she had had a long-term romantic relationship with Bill Hybels. Mellado learned the alleged relationship had lasted more than a decade.

Essential Christianity : Practical Steps for Spiritual Growth. Our small group at church has used these books for a couple years now, as part of the series, and we have found them to be great guides for our weekly discussions. I would encourage you to use them if you need a discussion guide. Some of the theology is a little different than what we teach, but even those areas provided good discussions.

It’s a broken world we live in. Chances are good that the fracture lines extend into your own life. Welcome to the search for answers. On your journey, are you willing to consider that Jesus—not “church” or cultural Christianity, but the genuine article—could hold the keys you’re looking for? If so, James Berkley invites you into a dialog that clears away the rampant misconceptions that have distorted who Jesus really is and what he’s about.Berkley accompanies you on a tour in search of a Jesus sighting. He’s not out to talk you into something you’re not ready for; this isn’t a game to win. Berkley simply offers a compelling, accurate look at Jesus. That which is essential. That which is true Christianity. Berkley lays out the story of the God who already loves you, died to rescue your relationship with him, and wants to hold you close forever. Skim the book and see where it takes you. But don’t be surprised if something inside you says, “At last! I’ve been looking for this all my life.”

I have used many of Bill Hybel's Bible studies. I have just done the first lesson and it inspires me to continue. This lesson really makes you think and draws you closer to Jesus in my walk with Him. I am looking forward to the other lessons in this series.

I enjoyed this Bible study. It was easy to follow and had thought provoking questions. This was the first class i have ever helped lead and I liked having the leader guide in the back of the book.
