It is not an exhaustive treatise on the Atonement or on Justification: it is an examination of the New Testament teaching on the Death of Christ. That the death of Christ has a place in the New Testament which demands for it the most careful consideration will not be questioned by any one; and though the ground has often been traversed, in whole or in part, before, there are reasons which justify at the present time such a study as follows. One is that, so far as the writer can judge, the death of Christ has not the place assigned to it, either in preaching or in theology, which it has in the New Testament.(Typographical errors above are due to OCR software and don't occur in the book.)About the Publisher Forgotten Books is a publisher of historical writings, such as: Philosophy, Classics, Science, Religion, History, Folklore and Mythology.Forgotten Books' Classic Reprint Series utilizes the latest technology to regenerate facsimiles of historically important writings. I have an old copy of this book that has a little water damage. So I wanted another copy. This NEW copy seems to be written in size 8 font maybe 9. There are no page numbers. Very disappointed. Very difficult to read.

Jim Denney mentioned in the Editor note above is NOT the author of this book. James Denney was a turn-of-the-century Scottish New Testament scholar, pastor, and theologian who wrote The Death of Christ, The Atonement and the Modern Mind (not the book on atonement as is shown in the "these two books often sell together" section above), The Christian Doctrine of Reconciliation and others. Amazon needs to correct this information.

I was sad to see a review with only 1 star--simply because of size of text. I am not finished this book, but so far it is quite excellent!
