My son is 7 and an average to below average reader. Most of his trouble is with guessing words by the first few letters instead of reading. I bought him a handful of these Star Wars DK readers because he loves Star Wars. He loves reading them. He can read most of the words, but I do have to help him with some. He doesn't get frustrated, though, because it's a book he really wants to read! He read them over and over. Part of me doesn't want him reading on just one topic, especially something that encourages him to want more toys and stuff, but I'd rather he read something that is interesting to him to build up his confidence. DK readers are my favorite reading series, they are very well done.

My four year old was not very impressed with this book. He loves many of the other Star Wars books, but after reading this book to him he said he didn't like it. I wasn't very impressed either. The story didn't flow very good. Ironically his favorite book is the ham solo one. I wouldn't recommend this book.

Edit. He changed his mind and keeps picking this book to read before bedtime.

(quoting the little guy) This was a very good book because it tells you about the characters in the movies. There are interesting facts and information that makes the movie funner to watch.

I thought it was great that he enjoyed the book so much, and then wanted to go back to it and show me the new stuff he learned. True, its about a movie, but anything to make him like reading is a win, in my book.

Great books! My son HATED reading and I was getting desperate. I was starting to wonder if he was switched at the hospital because my husband and I are avid readers. Out of panic that my son would grow up illiterate I bought a bunch of these books along with the "Star Wars: Phonics Boxed Set" Tah dah...no DNA test needed! My little guy is reading EVERYTHING. These books built his confidence and now he grabs books and reads to the dog all on his own. I hope you have as much success with these as we did.

My nine year old daughter, a very reluctant reader, really likes the DK Star Wars books. She loves all things Star Wars, and so she is willing to read these books about her favorite stories and characters. The stories are simple and enjoyable, the illustrations are nicely done, and the books are interesting even at the lower reading levels.

My 6-year-old son is a HUGE fan of Star Wars. We don't let him watch the cartoon and he has only seen the movies once, but he seems to know everything about this fictitious world! So, when I noticed him bringing home the DK readers from the school library (all the little boys race to get them at school every week and he can't always get there first!), I knew just what kind of books to buy so he always has some at home to read. It is very important to have books available on topics kids love so they will love reading! Good job DK. We are amassing quite a library and he is so proud that he can read them himself!

We all need to understand the Force.

Although that goes without saying, this books shares with children and youth the basic concepts of the Force and the heritage and instruction of the Jedi Order.

I am a die-hard fan of the Star Wars Saga, and many times I see where elements of the Saga apply to everyday life.

Ben Obi-Wan said it best: "The Force will be with you, always."
