Marilyn Kaye: The Beginning (Replica 1. At the front of the classroom, the boy rapped a gavel on the desk. Immediately Amy could feel her eyelids begin to droop. She always had a hard time staying awake during these meetings. If she had only known how boring the student council would be, she would never have run in the election.

Missing Pieces: Amy becomes suspicious when her fellow students start losing their most prized abilities, such as a sprinter losing his running ability and a basketball player forgetting how to throw. Meanwhile, Eric has begun High School and has little time for Amy any more, leading her to become fascinated with newcomer Chris. Gifted is the latest series by Marilyn Kaye and features a small class of students at Meadowbrook Middle School Each has a different supernatural ability, or "Gift", and they all attend a class to learn to use these abilities, although few people outside the class know about them.

Marilyn Kaye has managed to write a really neat story. Amy's a cool kid with some serious gifts and some really normal issues. The story doesn't go all screwy and turn into an over-the-top comic book. It sounds like something that could happen to you. It's more about who's making fun of who, what makes people cool and how to deal with peer pressue than it is about super-powers.

Something weird is happening to talented students at Parkside Middle School. It's as if someone -- or something -- is stealing what makes each of them special. And it starts with the jocks. The star quarterback "loses his arm." The top sprinter becomes slow as molasses. The basketball team's high scorer can't shoot into the hoop. Amy watches all this in bewilderment. Then, as others at school suffer a loss of their talents, Amy decides it's time for action. But she doesn't have a clue what she's up against. . . .

Amy and Tasha are in the eighth grade and have made a vow to help and even make friends with outsiders. Tasha tries to get to know Michelle Brooks, a shy girl with an amazing imagination. Amy wants to get to know Chris, who everyone thinks is a hoodlum. Tasha also tries to get to know a Megaman obsessed kid named Jerry, who immediately starts following Tasha around like a puppy. Meanwhile, all of the talented kids at school are getting their talent taken away. One minute the star quarterback is playing perfectly, the next he can barely throw it a foot. At first everyone blames the pranksters because it's what the pranksters do, but after Michelle calls Chris a demon and says he's the one stealing the talent, everyone starts to blame him. Amy decides to figure it out herself but when she hears about Chris spending time in a graveyard, and then sees him run into one, she decides to follow him and find out what's going on (watch out Scooby, Amy just might end up taking your job). And she does find out everything about Chris, but it's definitely not what she was expecting. This was a really great book and it introduced a new character, one I hope will be around in future books.

Everything was normal for Amy Candler and the other students in Parkside Middle School. But that was until the most gifted students started to lose their talents -- and the talented people just aren't talented anymore. Something is stealing the special qualities in the students of Parkside, and Amy, together with her friend Tasha, must dig deep into the strange, somewhat haunted mystery. And when Amy , now in the eighth grade, meets Chris -- the new loner at school who's been titled 'Demon' by the students, her world begins to slowly change. Chris is the ultimate suspect of the disappearing talents at Parkside. After all, he's so mysterious -- and haunting. Amy doesn't know if Chris is stealing the talents of everyone at the school. But the burning question is clear in Amy's mind as well as every other student at Parkside: Is there really a demon stalking the grounds of Parkside Middle School? This book has a very intriguing plot that kept me mystified until the end. In Amy's school, many of the talented students there suddenly and unexplainably loose their talents! Football players can no longer throw... Basketball players can't make a single basket... Singers lose their voices... What could be going on? At the same time, Amy meets a mysterious guy named Chris who she is strangely attracted to. But could he have something to do with the loss of talents? Can Amy figure out who is stealing from the stars before what is affecting them happens to her too? As she searches for answers, she soon finds that danger is closer than she thinks...
The idea for this story is very creative and original, and if you like suspense books this would be a good choice. Personally I don't think this is the best book of the series, because even though it has an exciting storyline, it is a little far-fetched. But all in all I loooove the Replica series, and can't put them down! All of the Replica books are must-haves. "Missing Pieces" is a unique and surprising book that you should definitely read!!! :)

Now that Amy and Tasha are in the eighth grade, Eric - who is Tasha's brother and Amy's boyfriend - is in tenth grade, which means he goes to the high school now, instead of Parkside Middle School. It also means that he never has any time for Amy any more, and has been acting like a real jerk. This year, Amy and Tasha vow to help the outsiders. Tasha tries to befriend Michelle, a quiet, shy girl who has up until now been homeschooled. Amy wants to help Chris, a sullen boy who keeps to himself. Both girls find themselves followed by a pesky, nerdy boy named Jerry. When all the talented students at Parkside - beginning with the athletes - begin to lose what makes them special, Michelle starts a wild rumor that convinces everyone that Chris is responsible, and that he is a demon! Amy knows there must be a logical explanation - but can she solve this mystery in time? Marilyn Kaye has written another great book in the series that I reccomend to all Replica fans.

Okay,Amy males a deal with tasha:They should try to meet new people,so that's how the problem started....they try to make friends with dorky Jerry Newman, who is obbsessed with "Mega-man"comics.....Well,they also try to make friends with Michlle Brooks,a 7th grader who is intressted with writing for the Parkside School Paper(Otherwise known asthe "Snooze")....
Well,People suddenly start to lose the talents that make them speicial,Like the star of the football team suddenly can't throw a ball,The best sprinter is now slow as molasses, and more......Michlle is convinced that a Demon is taking everyones talents away, and she blames a new student(who Amy has a Crush on),and she goes around school saying that he's a demon!Well, this is starting to get out of hand, and with the talent show coming up,what if by then all the talent is gone? What if what's happening to everyone happens??????????

I am one of the only kids i know who reads the Replica series and i've read all of them up to book 17. I really enjoyed this one, because you don't suspect the last result. it's really not what you expect. i like those kind of books, because you're not pulling your hair out over the charecter saying "cant you see it!?!? IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU!!" type of things. i think the whole series is made up of interesting books. Marilyn Kaye is my favorite author, and i've read two books of her other series, "Sisters". but i've never quite read a series like this one.
