This book stays at my house. When my grandson comes to visit - we always read this book before bedtime. This is his very favorite book. I then sing him the song about David and Goliath. We have good talks about God and His favorite king - David!

The two times it brings god up is a little awkward. God wasn't really introduced so my 4 year old wanted to know who this guy is. I guess it starts the questions but not very useful for answers.

My daughter had this book memorized at 3 because she liked it so much. She has since grown up and now I read it to my preschool class. It is one of their favorites too. They would have me read it every day for a month (and sing the song of course!).

Has become one of my grandson's favorite books!

This is a great book for my three year old. She wants to hear it over and over. The story is explained well for children and it has nice illustrations.

I read this to my son, David, when he was tiny. The first time I put on my big mean giant voice, it scared him. (He was a few months old. I recorded that event, but have lost the video.) Anyway, if you like doing voices of characters, and you are good at it, plus you want your child(ren) to know that story well, this is the book to get. If you get exceptionally good at the voices, even memorize the book, you should make a you tube video of it. I haven't done mine yet, but plans are still in the dreaming stage.
For beginning readers this features large words with colorful illustrations about David who killed a lion as a shepherd. His brothers go off to war and he takes them supplies. Upon arrival he sees a giant come out and challenge anybody to a fight, to which there are no takers.

David offers to go out and face him. He takes his trusty sling and 'Down goes Giant!' His posse flees.
