A fish discovers how great it is to be... a fish! He dwells on missing out on the world outside of the water, but then learns to appreciate how beautiful his surroundings are and that as a fish, he gets to live in such a beautiful underwater world. We are who we are and we should appreciate the uniqueness of our kind. This book is full of gorgeous illustrations, the pages are a smooth, heavy paper and the concept is an important one for young ones.

My favorite book to read at night to my kiddo. It incorporates higher level vocab without being too wordy. I love this book! Such a great message as well.

Great author for kids books. I like the usage of more complex vocabulary versus other children's books.

I ordered this from a 3 year old child's gift list kept current by his mother. I so appreciate having a list that I can shop from. Buying a gift that is age and interest appropriate is important to me and children change so fast.

Leo Lionni books are classics and I am sad that I only recently found them. All of his books inspire the imagination of children and get them thinking about moral, or difficult issues (sometimes without them even knowing it).
great ant
An awesome book for kids teaching them perspective taking and that things may seem better on the other side of the fence but they are not really.
Uste
A good example to use with adults to help them understand how important experience and background knowledge is for children to learn.
