Encouraged to try a drug meant to banish indecision, he is all at once fired from his low-grade tech-support job in Manhattan and invited to a rendezvous in exotic Ecuador with the girl of his long-ago prep-school dreams.

Nonfiction Reading Practice, Grade 5 contains 20 content-specific topics in the following areas: Social studies-Iroquois Indians, Stonehenge, Ernest Shackleton, the Battle of Little Bighorn, and the Ring of Fire. Science-magnetism, brine shrimp, the water cycle, cloud seeding, and John Muir. Health & safety-sun safety, bicycle safety, and Mark Wellman. Mathematics-batting averages, global warming, and measuring length. The arts-West African dance, plays, Charles Schulz, and the Seattle Space Needle. Each unit contains: a teacher resource page that introduces the topic and lists suggested vocabulary to introduce for each article, a visual aid that presents the topic graphically to the entire class, three articles on the same topic, but at three different reading levels, and three accompanying comprehension/vocabulary worksheets. Graphic organizers and a reading strategies checklist are provided for teacher and student use. An answer key is included.

Great book with amazing topics. Each topic has 3 levels. It would be better if the books were divided into levels and featured more topics rather than 3 levels on each topic. Students are not as likely to reread the same topics even if they've advanced. A great book for a teacher who may have students on different levels to copy and distribute.

Truly love these workbooks!
The material is well laid out, has variety and is interesting. It gives your reader three choices (gradients) so I can use with more than one child or again with the same child as he/she progresses.
