My nearly 9 yr old granddaughter loves these books (bought 'The Name Game' as well). They're definitely for the 8-12 age group, and very fresh and contemporary stories. Seems like many of the books that my daughters read in the 70s, 80s just don't resonate with the grandkids. These books, and the new 'Nancy Drew and the Clue Crew' books have become favorites instead.

I purchased this book for my grandchild. she enjoyed the book. I then purchased a couple more of the same books for her.

Daphne may not feel cool, but in my opinion she rocks! She is smart, astute, sweet, vulnerable, loving and laugh-out-loud funny! My children and I loved THE NAME GAME, and we are just as fond of this new diary installment, chronicling Daphne's efforts to come up with a very cool vampire costume. Daphne's drawings and musings about terrible teachers, for instance, had us in stitches: our favorite, funny/sad/true vignette showed the "mean teacher" sneering "Bwaahaaaaa...I have ultimate power over you! Hee heeee" Moss has an uncanny gift for bringing kids' fears and insecurities to light and transforming them into comedy, making children feel both less alone and highly entertained! Bravo, Daphne!!!
