My 5 year old son has started borrowing Carl Sommers books from his school library. They are EXCELLANT stories!!! This story is about a little train who never gave up. Others were making fun of him and trying to discourage hime, but he did what was right despite the criticism. There is a cute little poem/song to sing whenever you are tempted to give up inside this book. When my 5 year old had his tonsils out last week, he hated taking his medicine because it burned his throat. I sang this song to him and he took the medicine because he didn't want to give up either. He wanted to be like the little red train.

The Little Red Train is a great book for those kids who loved Thomas the train. This little red train has a wonderful attitude about life. This train is not like the big trains, yet he or she is adorable and the train wins a gold medal for its dedication. An appropriate time to buy this book is NOW! It even has a fun song for children to learn. Sommer has thought of everything, he included the words and music at the end of the book.
