It is a good story for children that doesn't distort what Native Americans way of life was. Also the White Buffalo Calf story was a nice summary of the original story of the Calf Maiden who brought the pipe sacred rites to the Lakota

He's still reluctant, but there was less whining and he's quite proud about finishing his first chapter book. This series has such a wide variety of topics, it's easy to find one to go with whatever history you are working on at the moment.

My four year old son is in love with this chapter series! A friend suggested it to us since he seemed ready for a more advanced reading material at bedtime. My husband reads him a chapter every night...sometimes more because they don't want to stop. It's become a great tradition for them, and something they both look forward to. We love that there are so many in the collection! Start with number 1 and just continue. :)
My son loves these books, I've been reading them to him to help improve his English. Enjoyable and easy for him to understand even with English as a second language
