Again, I was expecting a picture book with colorful illustrations. Not so! I should have been more careful before I bought this. It's not for really young children who like to see pretty illustrations with the story.

As a teacher, I was looking for a book about an elf. Though this story had cute illustrations, I did not enjoy the book and it had spiritual undertones that I didn't like.

This book is beautifully written and illustrated for children beginning to read chapter books. I was surprised that some of the other books in the series were out of print: Tashi and the Genie, Tashi and the Baba Yaga. I've bought some other Tashi books and look forward to reading these with my kids: Tashi and the Ghosts, Tashi and the Big Stinker, Tashi.
