Fleming has designed and written a beautiful book. The illustrations are just beautiful and rendered wonderfully (not as abstract as some of her other titles).

Only 12 left in stock (more on the way). Fleming has designed and written a beautiful book. The unusual animal choices make for fun reading: toucans, gnus, worms-my 9-month-old loves it. I look forward to each of Fleming's titles-when you have to reread a book umpteen times, her artwork is a joy to view again and again; when your little one is squealing in delight at each page and you are enjoying what you are reading, then you both are sharing a wonderful book and moment together.

Denise published her first painting in the third grade, when she started taking classes at the Toledo Museum of Art and one of her paintings was chosen to be the cover of a teacher's magazine. She now works primarily with paper, by pouring colored paper pulp through hand-cut stencils. She lives in Toledo, Ohio.

Author: Denise Fleming Genre: Juvenile Literature Theme: Counting Book. I am a passionate Denise Fleming convert. Her breathtaking art, for which she is deservedly renowned, is often visually noisy, and I avoided her books for a long time because of that. And some of her books will never work for my son Luke; they have too much going on, so he can't focus on anything and quickly gets bored.

The little toddlers I am with love this book! It keep their attention for the entire story. I had to get a new since the last was all ripped up (toddlers will be toddlers of course). I'm trying to find a hardcover of this book but I don't think there is one.

My kids and grandkids loved this book and I try to get it as gifts for newborns when I can find it in the board book version.

This book is a great way to teach even the very young about counting and number concepts! I bought this book for my daughter when she was 5 months old. Even then she was drawn to the very colorful and engaging illustrations. Now at 21 months old my daughter likes to count along with us as we read the book to her. I have also used this book in a first grade classroom. It's a great independent reading book for kids at that age, and as a bonus it helps them with math concepts.
Great, colorful, educational book!

Both of our kids have enjoyed the vivid illustrations and fun movements we created to go with each page. We started reading this one when they were just a few months old. We have the baby board book edition. I'm sure it will be a cute one for learning counting as the kids get older.
