The illustrations are the best. The drawings of the uptight Mr. Rabbit, complete with pince-nez glasses and little waistcoat, crack me up every time. My daughter can't get enough of this book and I love reading it to her over and over again.

This book may have resonated with me more than it did with mt kids. But I thought it was wonderful!

It's all about how kids are loud and dirty and smelly and messy and drive you insane....and how you miss them when they are gone and the house is too quiet.

The prim and proper Mr Rabbit finds a round blue thing but has no idea it's an egg. He takes it home. Then it hatches and a duckling destroys his house, keeps him up all night, and generally makes him crazy. So he strives to find the duckling's mother so he can get rid of it.

Sure enough he finds the Duck family, who are delighted to get the duckling back.

Suddenly Mr Rabbit can't stand his quiet, clean, empty house. So he has the Duck family over to visit. Kids will do that to you.

It's a sweet book. And it started a great conversation with my daughter about how no matter how much I might seem frustrated with her at times, that I always love her and can't imagine my life without her. Then she was super happy and cuddly the rest of the night. 5 stars to a book that can start that conversation with my kids.

Do you know this kind of people who are very cleaned up and organized. Well, Mr. Rabbit is one of them until the icky little duckling enters his life and he realizes there are more important things than perfectionism. The pictures are very cute and the description of the story is perfectly balanced between enough details to make it interesting and easy enough to be understandable by a 2 year old.
