This is painted on a handmade, by me, canvas with razor blade slashes cut into the canvas. There was a lot of anger and despair behind those gashes also. The known images, Magritte's The Lovers and "House on Haunted Hill" set a very macabre theme.

Torn Apart/Restored, by Darin Carroll is co-authored by Teila Tankersley with special guest writers Gloria Carroll and Chandra Bryan. What seemed to be a hopeless situation was turned into a marriage full of hope. Darin and Gloria, and even their daughter, Chandra, retell a story that is straight from the diaries of their hearts. Presently the pastor at Victory Life Ministries in Pueblo, Colorado, this family took all that life threw at them and survived, thanks to the mercy and grace of God. They were able to salvage their lives that were headed for hell to point them to heaven.

Someone blew him apart with a shotgun. He gulped down some more wine, took a small box from the pocket of his jacket, opened it and sniffed up a pinch of powder. Only way to use tobacco inside these days.

John Casey was a professor at Macquarie University, a former soldier and no stylist. The introduction nearly put me to sleep in the musty, air-conditioned atmosphere and I was relieved to see that the book had an index. Someone blew him apart with a shotgun. I'm waiting for the sneeze. Doesn't always happen. There's a security angle to all this, obviously.

Richie Tankersley Cusick is the author of numerous horror novels, including The House Next Door, April Fools, and several Buffy the Vampire Slayer books. She lives in Lenexa, Kansas. Her Aunt Teeta is helping to restore the old plantation outside of town, Belle Chandelle, but in addition to needing a lot of TLC it also hosts desperately unhappy spirits within its walls. I really liked the ghost story parts of the book, and I wish there had been even more of a focus on Miranda's power and the backstory of the plantation.

Torn Apart / Restored is a biography of two childhood sweethearts, Darin and Gloria. A young couple tangled up in a turbulent marriage, combative, arrogant and struggling, they eventually make the decision to divorce. The drama of their lives unfolds and just as they are preparing to finalize their divorce; Gloria has a change of heart. Her dilemma - her husband has become involved with a former girlfriend and it only gets worse from there; he is soon charged with murder. Is there any hope of restoring their marriage let alone their lives? In spite of some overwhelming obstacles Gloria places her faith in Christ and believes wholeheartedly that God is going to do a work in her husband's heart. Through blind faith she seeks to win him back and along the way she builds a relationship with Christ that is inspiring. Friends and family can see no hope, yet God is busy orchestrating miracles in the midst of all this drama. A book you have to read to believe. If you liked Nicky Cruz's book, "Cross and the switchblade" or if you are a fan of the book,"Fireproof" written by Eric Wilson, Alex Kendrick, and Stephen Kendrick - then you are going to love this! A book filled with suspense, drama and gang violence, but more importantly, it is interwoven with the quiet, gentle spirit of Christ himself. Just when you think there is no hope, Christ works a miracle and that is when the journey begins. Gloria and her husband Darin Carroll have an amazing testimony and they now pastor a church in Pueblo, Colorado, called Victory Life Ministries. If you are in need of a miracle this is the book for you!

I know the people personally in this book, and I can attest to the authenticity of the story. I was not aware of all the circumstances and the motives of the story until i read this work. It is a unique perspective from Darin's standpoint as if looking through his very own eyes. The story brings to light a spiritual side of life most people do not know exists or may never acknowledge. I know these things, situations, and creatures exist. I love the perspective in which it was told. What a wonderful work of grace in this families life. The forgiveness, which goes beyond all human understanding. The hand of the Lord at work in the Carroll family is remarkable. God bless you guys for putting onto paper you thought, feelings and emotions and telling your story in your way and your beliefs!

This is a very uplifting story, from tragedy to victory.

This book is so compelling and shows that no human in any condition is without hope. I am so impressed by this book and highly recommend it. As a pastor with a Prison Ministry, I recommend this book to any church library or to send it to a prisoner who feels that they are beyond redemption. This shows that there is no sin, no past guilt, no crimes that God will not forgive. The power that God makes available shows that anyone can overcome their past life and be born again and live in eternity. Darin Carroll and Gloria Carroll show a sterling work in this most powerful testimony. Once you start reading it, you will not be able to put it down. Its just amazing, just like God's grace, from start to finish. I rated it a five out of five stars.

TOrn Apart/Restored is an inspiration from the first page to the very last page. After reading about the trials and tribulations that this young family endured, the message remains clear when the Lord says, "I have called you by name, you are mine" we know he means it. The book also reflects the awesome power of prayer and what it can do for our loved ones and for us. Whether you are restored, have no idea you need restoring, or if you walk daily with the Lord, this book is a blessing to the faith of all readers.

I must be honest, I have yet to read the book but I know the story firsthand! It is truly one of love beginning with God and ending with a beautifully restored marriage and family! This story is not exaggerated in any manner, it is a magnificent example of the grace, love, and mercy God has for all of HIS children! This couple and family for as long as I have known them, about 15 years, has shown nothing but a true heart that loves and desires to please God and help others to do the same! May their story help the many hurting to come to know the full knowledge of Christs' love for them and to encourage those that are serving to win those hearts to the Lord! If you have never lived a life such as theirs, don't be judgemental but be grateful that you have been spared. If you have lived in any way close to theirs, be grateful that God is still doing a work and choose to live a life that will be glorifying to God just as they have and continue to do! I look forward to sharing Darin and Glorias story as I teach the young ladies in our Juvenile and County Facilities who are suffering through prostitution, drug abuse, and domestic violence cases. Thank you for sharing your story!!

What a work...God is so good. I have known Pastor Darin and Gloria for a while and know the testimony that they had shared with me throughout this time. But to actually read it was above and beyond what I had ever known. This book will literally change your life. The way that God works in this family is so amazing. I cannot explain how powerful this book is and how it truly displays the love of God. From the opening chapter to the very end it displays the awesome power of God and His love for us all. God transformed a family from gangs, violence, drugs, and alcohol to mighty men and women who are exemplifying the true love that God has for us all. It shows how God can plant a vision in us and how through prayer and faith He is true to His word. God is so good....thank you all for sharing this testimony of how great and loving God is. Truly amazing !!

My wife got this book and I stole if from her and finished it in one day. I don't read many books. I usually listen to books on audio. This is a wonderful book about the power of God to change lives and the faithful commitment of a wife that wouldn't give up. So often in our lives and in our churches we write people off long before God does. We put a (.) where God puts a (,). The story is not over until God says it's over. This book inspired and convicted me. Inspired to see past the surface and convicted to "reach out" to those that society has "thrown out". I highly recommend this book to people that have become churchy and pray that God will continue to use it to open the hearts of Christians to show true Godly love.

Carroll shares himself and his family in his book. TORN APART/RESTORED. He gives a powerful personal testimony to God's forgiveness and his saving Grace.

Darin himbly and gratefully shares how God saved him from the self-centered, self-destructive life-style he had fallen into and transformed him into a new creation. He is now a disciple of God and has a heart for people who are hurting and don't know the Lord. As the pastor of a congregation, he welcomes into God's church and shares the Gospel Message with them.

Darin's book contains a message of hope for those who believe God could not possibly forgive THEM. It is a testimony to the Scripture, "With God all things are possible." -Maththew 19:26
