The Air Battle for Malta: The Diaries of a Spitfire Pilot.

This book provides an intriguing and realistic account of the struggle for the possession of Malta during World War II. The air battle raged for two and a half years during which time 14,000 tons of bombs were dropped on a defiant population.

And it's told very well. Well researched as far as I can tell, and with first hand accounts to give it life. I liked it a lot.

Not really a diary or memoir. There are a lot better books about fighter pilots in WW2. I was very disappointed with this.
