Ken Kesey was born in 1935 and grew up in Oregon

Ken Kesey was born in 1935 and grew up in Oregon. His books include Sometimes a Great Notion, Kesey's Garage Sale, Demon Box, Sailor Song, and Last Go Round (with Ken Babbs). He passed away on November 10, 2001. However, as the book plays out Kesey demonstrates that living in this manner may not lead to a life of pleasure or fame but may involve the free person being crushed by power structures and processes that do not appreciate the questioning of where power lies. I would argue that One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest offers a modern presentation of the story found in the New Testament.

He'll still get up from time to time and wag his head and let us know how tired he is, but it's not a complaint or excuse or warning any more-he's finished with that; it's like an old clock that won't tell time but won't stop neither, with the hands bent out of shape. and the face bare of numbers and the alarm bell rusted silent, an old, worthless clock that just keeps ticking and cuckooing without meaning nothing.

One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1962) is a novel written by Ken Kesey. Set in an Oregon psychiatric hospital, the narrative serves as a study of institutional processes and the human mind as well as a critique of behaviorism and a tribute to individualistic principles. It was adapted into the Broadway (and later off-Broadway) play One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest by Dale Wasserman in 1963. Bo Goldman adapted the novel into a 1975 film directed by Miloš Forman, which won five Academy Awards. Ken Kesey had many significant experiences that enabled him to create One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. As a result of his entrance into the creative writing program at Stanford University in 1959 (Ken 1), Kesey moved to Perry Lane in Menlo Park. It was there that he and other writers first experimented with psychedelic drugs. After working as a test subject for the hospital, Kesey was able to get a job working as a psychiatric aide. Sometimes he would go to work high on acid (LSD) (323). By doing so, he was able to understand the pain felt by the patients on the ward.
