You know, there's probably something refreshing about her honesty, mostly spilling about those she slept with. She doesn't moralize either. It is obvious, though she doesn't quite say, that she had multiple lovers at some periods of time and she doesn't shy away from her adultery either. I'm not moralizing either. She didn't murder anyone. And, being a star, and beautiful (which she was) there is no doubt it was there for the asking. It sounds like most everyone (not quite) in movies and in royalty that she knew was what you'd expect - spoiled, pampered, self-centered, blah, blah, blah. At least, that is who she seemed to focus on. Others might say she had no right to kiss and tell or that she was bragging. And others still might say, who cares?

There's only one reason I bought the book - I wanted to read what she had to say about The Munsters - and it was almost nothing! Just a few pages. That was disappointing.

She is not a great writer and it is all kind of conversational in tone. But, nevertheless, she knew a lot of famous people and who doesn't like to read a tell all? Certainly not a classic, but it was okay. I did not know how many movies she was in and how many big stars she worked with. I did not know she could act, sing and dance. She was just Lily to me. Anyway, basically, if you want to know about her sex life, go for it. If that turns you away, there are better biographies to read.
Love Me
I had no idea that actress Yvonne DeCarlo had died until 2 months after her death, which led me to purchase her autobiography, a difficult book to find. After reading the book, I had no knowledge of the trials and tribulations that were a part of her life, which are covered extensively throughout her book. Most people remember her best as Lily Munster, coated with ghoulish make-up on weekly TV episodes, but her heydays were in the late 40's and 50's when she was cast in numerous harem and western movies, opposite leading actors....many of which she dated, including producer Howard Hughes. No doubt, in my mind, she was one of Hollywood's most beautiful actresses, and yet she didn't seem to rise as high on the "fame" ladder as other actresses of her time. At a time when Yvonne seemed to reach a pinnacle in her career, tragedy struck, when her husband, a stuntman, was maimed during a filming accident, and years later her youngest son died from a rare disease. As time went on, we saw less and less of her, as she took to playing minor roles in film and TV. If you can still find the book, and you're a fan of Yvonne DeCarlo, by all means order it, and read about the little girl from Vancouver, B.C., who one day decided to take dancing lessons and eventually would end up acting alongside some of Hollywood's leading actors.
I am so not a book reader but I could not put this book down. Yvonne was just so opened and honest in this book and she makes you feel like you could of hung out with her and she had such a great sense of humor. I think coming from tough times kept her to be the down to earth person she seemed to be. What an underrated actress. Hollywood really let her slip thru the cracks because she deserved to be such a huge star. Like so many other reviews if your looking to read anything about The Munsters she does not really talk about it. I'm a huge Munsters fan so I was a little bummed. I did not want the book to end. If you are a fan of Yvonne DeCarlo then this book is a must.
This autobiography gives us an inside look at the life and career of Yvonne De Carlo. For anyone interested in this fabulous and captivating hollywood legend, then by all means give this a read. Yvonne's humor and personality shine through these pages as it relates much of her intimate encounters as well as her exciting world travels. Not much information on her role in The Munsters. But, many of her film roles are covered as well as her years as a youth in Canada and her private life as wife and mother. Clearly, a very full life is found within these pages!
Margaret Yvonne Middleton Beauty Queen became Yvonne DeCarlo to star in the movies.
Exposed in her book is the miriad of love affairs with all the usual suspects.
The famous story told by Tony Curtis to Walter Matthau in his book re his "tryst" with Margaret is not confirmed but gets an honourable mention.
O.K. Hollywood bio of a very busy actress with an even busier lovelife.
Entertaining but reads like a lot other hollywood star bio's.
Fantastic. A true goddess of beauty and sweetbess.
