Plastered : The Poster Art of Australian Popular Music. by Walding, Murray and Vukovic, Nick.

Nick Vukovic with some of his 40,000 music posters. Called Plastered, the exhibition takes its name from a book Vukovic published in 2005 with Murray Walding. Vukovic's fetish was sparked when he was driving through a Melbourne underpass in the early '90s and noticed all the music posters attached to the walls. He found out who the printer was and encouraged the printer to donate the posters to libraries and universities in return for tax deductions. There were always extras, and Vukovic collected them zealously. But not all his acquisitions were free.

Vukovic’s interest in music posters came about almost inadvertently. Vukovic’s collection led him a few years ago to collaborate with his friend Murray Walding on a book, Plastered: The Poster Art of Rock’n’Roll, which featured a wide range of posters from his collection. In the late 1970s Vukovic had acquired a large and valuable collection of postcards from a shop in Amsterdam. A number of years later, after selling his postcard collection to pay off some debts, Vukovic caught sight of a rock’n’roll poster underneath a Melbourne railway bridge. Vukovic was also a major source of posters for Michael Gudinski’s Every Poster Tells A Story: 30 Years of Frontier Touring Company.
