His books include the Drum Handbook, and the acclaimed Rock Drum Method. I'm not a drummer but I've always been fascinated with percussion. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep a beat with a metronome. The photos in this book are magnificent, showcasing kits from as far back as the 1920's. Who knew that they had closed high hats that far back? There's a cool shot of Keith Moon's levels of toms and the steel framing required so he could walk on them. And there are tidbits of information strewn throughout the book like the race between Moon and Ginger Baker to get a double bass rig. (Moon won by two weeks.
Must have book for serious groove drummers or any drummer. Details on the history of the music, the grooves and the musicians. Plenty of examples and the play along tracks are great to learn the grooves and style. My shuffle has already improved after following the exercises and examples.
