Though Scharf’s brightly colored imagery is generally playful, he has remarked that darker themes exist beneath the surface of his works, visible upon closer inspection. Scharf was a part of the 1980s East Village Art movement, along with his good friend and fellow street artist Keith Haring.

I love this book. My most memorable time was when my then 6 year old nephew said, "this is beautiful," as he looked through its pages for the first time. Kenny Scharf is a prolific artist who has made art since a young age and has never stopped. His work is rich and whimsical, while often addressing global issues. This book, full of colorful images of Kenny's work, is a treasure for young and old.

A great look into Kenny Scharf's rise to prominence in the New York art scene in the '80s as part of a dynamic and influential group of artists that included Andy Warhol, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. This book covers Scharf's multi decade career, experiences and activities. His work is uniquely distinct and this book is must have for Scharf art collectors
The whimsical paintings of Kenny Scharf could never truly be captured on the pages of some book- but this one comes very close! It's the best I've seen in the genre of Pop Art books and has some very interesting interviews with Kenny. But the artwork speaks for itself!
