Johnson w Philip Cortelyou Johnson (July 8, 1906 – January 25, 2005) was an influential American architect. In 1930, he founded the Department of Architecture and Design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. In 1978 he was awarded an American Institute of Architects Gold Medal and in 1979 the first Pritzker Architecture Prize. He was a student at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Johnson was gay, and has been called "the best-known openly gay architect in America.

Rem Koolhaas was born in Rotterdam in 1944. Hans-Ulrich Obrist was born in 1968 in Zurich, Switzerland. In 1975 he founded the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), which has become one of todayis most renowned and radical architecture firms. In 1993, he founded the Museum Robert Walser and began to run the Migrateurs program at the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris where he served as a Curator for contemporary art. He presently serves as the Co-Director of Exhibitions and Programs and Director of International Projects at the Serpentine Gallery, London.
