My professor for Federal Income Tax was not the best, so this book saved my grade. The examples and the way they explain the concepts is very clear and easy to comprehend.

I normally like the examples and explanations books - even though they are extremely wordy - but generally I find that the extra wordiness at the end, helps the concepts to make sense in the end.

Federal Income Taxation (Concepts and Insights). I normally like the examples and explanations books - even though they are extremely wordy - but generally I find that the extra wordiness at the end, helps the concepts to make sense in the end. I'm looking for the second half of this book - I can't believe how general all the explanations are - and in paragraph form for a tax course?! Um absurd. The equations (for example calculated excludable amounts for annuities and life insurance plans) are not even written out!

I struggled all semester long with Tax I. I purchased Examples and Explanations because I'd had good experiences with other topics before. As soon as I started reading the E&E along with my class assignments (or in place of them), it all came together. It offers some concrete explanations and then provides questions with great factual variations. My exam was multiple choice, so the E&E material was perfect preparation. Seriously, how could ~$35 not be a great investment when it returns an A? Buy this book.

You'd be fine to go with the older version. But this is a well written primer, one of the few books that has value outside of law school and outside of that area if you are not specializing in it.

This book is seriously helpful as a supplement to the case book. The examples are great!

Super useful. I was a political science major in undergrad so this law class seemed daunting. The examples are great and helped me understand what would have been a very tough topic. I strongly recommend this to anyone taking FIT.

This E&E was great, it was a huge help for a class that is generally very dry and mostly code based. It does a great job putting IRC into plain language. I used it to supplement the Bankman casebook- but I rarely touched the casebook.

Good practice problems and detailed analysis of federal taxation.

Book is not bad, though I only got it for class.
I never took tax in law school but was confronted with some tax issues on a matter I was working on. This book gave me the background to build off of and was incredibly helpful.
